Psychological Therapy

As a psychologist with years of experience and training, and a mother of two school-aged children, I have a good understanding of problems that face children, teens and their families. I use Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and the principles and ideas of Systemic Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy to address a number of difficulties:

Educational (Cognitive) Assessments

If you are concerned about your child’s development and/or attainment and progress at school, it is important to consider having an educational assessment. This type of assessment is often referred to as cognitive assessment. It consists from a series of different activities, individually tailored to identify the specific needs of each child. I assess a number of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Specific Language Impairment.
When it would be helpful to consider asking for an educational/cognitive assessment?
  • When a child is not meeting the expected developmental milestones
  • When a young person is struggling at school or college
  • When a child significantly struggles with specific areas of study such as reading problems, spelling problems, problems with maths, difficulties with attention and concentration, memory problems and/or social interaction and communication difficulties

• Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) for Children and Adolescents
